RAILWAY-TALE
AN INDOOR TEXT-BASED WALL RELIEF IN TWO PARTS
GODSBANEN, AARHUS, DENMARK, 2012
Railway-Tale, is a text relief, which covers two walls of respectively 36 and 25 meters. Some of the text is made of laser cut lacquered steel, other parts of the text is stencilled directly onto the wall and one sentence is cast directly into the concrete wall itself. The hight of the building varies from 5 to 13 meters. Godsbanen is the old Aarhus freight terminal with a new-build extension now functioning as a cultural centre. The text tells a story about the place itself. It’s a fable about the freight terminal as it once was, and a fantasy about what it will become. So the text is not an ordinary one, but made in a way, which allows different ways of reading. A word, two words, a sentence is enough to send your mind wandering.

DER ER TANKEGODS I SIGTELINJEN FRA RANGERTERRÆNNET OG EN GRØN LINJE PEGER GENNEM TERMINALEN DIREKTE PÅ DIG. BLEV DU TRANSPORTERET GENNEM KULTURZONEN I EN SORT BOX, SLÆBT HENOVER JERNBANEGULVET TIL DETTE SYNTETISKE TELT? ER DU LYSET FOR ENDEN AF TUNNELEN?
BIG X
AN OUTDOOR WOODEN SCULPTURE FOR GODSBANEN
AARHUS, DENMARK, 2012
Big X consists of 60 solid oak cubes, some cut in angels, and then stacked up to form an X-shape. Seen from space, or maybe just from the buildings walkable roof, it marks the spot: You are here!
